Canvasback Hen
Joe Dye, Havre de Grace, Maryland
Circa 1900
A rare hen Canvasback by Joseph Dye. It is in old dry repaint. Has a check in neck that is tight and stable. Original rigging remains. Joe Dye apparently painted very few of his decoys as hens. A good hard to find bird here that has all they wonderful Dye bill carving characteristics.

Here is a killer early hand chopped McGaw Canvasback in excellent worn original paint and great condition. Super nice form and head carving. Finding decoys by McGaw in original paint is difficult. Decoy is from the Bush River Gunning Club and is braned on bottom with strong club marks. This is a good early one by McGaw!

A rare early Bluebill by Paul Gibson. All original paint and condition. Paul's earlier decoys are thinner in profile and have wonderful carved heads. Early paint patterns are very pleasing. If your looking to collect a Gibson bird - this is a great one to pick up!

A great Graham Canvasback drake branded SENECA point gun club situated near Charlestown, Maryland. This decoy is in old repaint. Has a wonderful carved head and long body style. A great hard to find decoy by one of the Susquehanna Flats earliest decoy makers.

Here is a super pair of early Canvasbacks by Mitchell. Wonderful all original paint and condition. Fantastic patina that has developed on the surface of these birds is very pleasing to look at. Overall a hard to find earlier pair by this famous decoy maker from the Upper Chesapeake Bay.

Fantastic early Ward Bros. Canvasback drake in wonderful original paint and condition. Has very nice even wear to body and head. It is signed and dated 1948 but certainly appears to be more of later 1930s style bird. Excellent overall with great turned head and form!

A rare and important Canvasback drake by McGaw. It is in excellent all original paint and unused condition. It is lightly stamped by McGaw RF MCGAW on bottom. It is from McGaw's personal hunting rig. These birds were recovered in the 1980s in a Havre de Grace attic. This is one of the best examples that I have seen from that group of birds. A wonderful historic high-end McGaw here.

Redhead Pair

Signed and Dated 1966
Super pair of Ward Redheads fresh to the market and made in 1966. Have been sitting on a shelf ever since. They are in wonderful all original paint and condition. Hen has some roughness on one side of tail. Very appealing and clean Wards overall at a price that will be hard to ignore!

Redhead Drake

Circa 1920s
A killer Heverin Redhead drake in dry all original paint and condition. It is from the Lou Pennock rig and has his hand carved LP under the tail. This is a good bird here with strong "angel wing" paint patterns. Complete with some shot marks on the right rear end!

Redhead Iron Sinkbox Decoy
Benjamin Dye, Perryville, Maryland
Circa 1890
Here is a true rarity from the Susquehanna Flats. It is an old Dye iron sinkbox decoy patterned off the famous ELB, Edward L. Bartlett Redheads from the 1860s. Edward Bartlett was partner with Thomas J. Hayward of the Bartlett and Hayward iron foundry in Baltimore, Maryland. This is sinkbox decoy is in nice condition but has had a professional bill tip repair. Only a few of these Dye pattern iron birds have surfaced.

Hollow Greater Snow Goose

Signed and Dated 1966
Nice hollow greater snow goose by the Ward Brothers. Made for the Phil Williamson collection back in 1966. It is in excellent all original paint and is in fine condition overall. Has a cool looking attitude. Keel was removed. Good Ward here for those looking to add one to the shelf.

Postage Stamp Model Canvasback Drake
Bob McGaw, Havre de Grace, Maryland
Circa 1929
Here is an outstanding and extremely rare 1929 model Canvasback drake gunning decoy by McGaw. This famous model appeared on the 1985 U.S. Folk Art Stamp. Also appearing in Joel Barber's book, Wildfowl Decoys. It was gathered from the Pusey family rig years ago and is one of only a few that remained in all original paint and unused condition. This is McGaw's finest Canvasback decoy he ever produced. An investment grade decoy here for the serious collector.

Here is a rare pair of oversized high head Canvasbacks by Gene Hendricks who worked for Paul Gibson. These wonderful birds are in excellent all original paint and unused condition. Both are signed and dated on their bottoms. These are truly wonderul looking Cans out of the Gibson shop.

Redhead Pair

Here is a great very early and rare pair of Redheads by Bob McGaw. They are in wonderful repaint by Severn Hall. Nice wide bodies on these birds. These are the exact decoys pictured in the McGaw article in Decoy Magazine. However, they are listed in the article as being made by Captain Billy Moore - Bob McGaw's father-in-law. I will leave that up to you to decide. Regardless...they are wonderful small Redheads!

Dye family decoys are without a doubt true Upper Chesapeake Bay rarities. This Cavasback decoy is by Joe Dye who is the son of one of the earliest Susquehanna Flats decoy makers - Captain Ben Dye. It is in nice dry original paint and little used condition. Detailed bill carving rounds out this historic Upper Bay Canvasback. A great addition to any serious Upper Chesapeake Bay collection.

Here is a rare and wonderful little gunning Bluebill by one of the earliest decoy makers from the Upper Chesapeake Bay. It is in a wonderful thin coat of gunning paint that appears to have Long Island origins. Decoy is structurally sound with shot marks on head and body. A wonderful piece of history from the famed Susquehanna Flats and a true rarity overall.

Bluebill Pair

Here is killer pair of very rare and early made Mitchell Bluebills. They are in excellent all original paint and lightly gunned condition. Wonderful form and patina on this pair and excellent early paint patterns! Drake has a very small hairline in the neck...but overall...amazing condition for their age. Both have an H painted on their bottoms. Rig is unknown to me - but I have seen this H on other very early Mitchell and McGaw decoys. These early Mitchells are hard to come by in any condition - so don't miss out on this highly collectable pair.

Wonderful hard to find full size decorative swan by R. Madison Mitchell. It is in excellent all original paint and condition. Has some paint cracking around the neck area but does not take away from its overall appearance. It also has great full detailed bill carving. It is signed in pen and the signature has been covered by a previous owner to preserve the pen ink. It is also signed by Mitchell in electro pen. A great bird here for anyone looking to add a swan to their collection.

Canvasback Drake Wooden Wing Duck

Circa 1930
Here is a very rare semi-high head Canvasback wooden sinkbox wing duck by Hall. This decoy was part of a rig of 12 unused sinkbox decoys found in North East, Maryland some 40 to 50 years ago by a long time Cecil County resident. The majority of these 12 sinkbox decoys have been identified and made by Henry Davis of Perryville (I have two in my personal collection). Authentic sinkbox decoys are hard to find.

Here is a nice old and appealing Canvasback by one of the earliest Cecil County decoy makers - John Black Graham. This decoy is in very old paint. Pretty solid condition overall, but does have a tight neck crack. Tack eyes and wonderful form round out this historic Canvasback from the Susquehanna Flats.

Here is a great and very early Canvasback drake by one of the earliest Cecil County decoy makers - John Black Graham. This decoy is in very old flaking paint. Good condition overall, but does cracks in the neck. Mandible carving on the bill, tack eyes, original iron keel and great form on this ancient Canvasback. An wonderful piece of history from the Upper Chesapeake Bay. Nice Grahams are difficult to find on the market.

Here is a wonderful McGaw Bluebill drake in very nice all original paint and is in good used condition. It has original ring and staple and McGaw's dog bone shaped lead ballast weight.
